Dear

Since Brian Deer’s first articles in the Sunday Times earlier this year bringing the horrors of Septrin and Bactrim out into the open, there has been considerable media interest in the effects of the drug. There have been further articles in the Manchester Evening News and the Daily Mail. The response to these articles, from people who have suffered from the effects of Septrin or Bactrim has been enormous.

For most of us, we now realise, for the first time during all of our suffering, that we are not alone. We now have the names of over two hundred people who have suffered, some horrifically, from the effects of these drugs.

We must now gather strength from our numbers through talking to, and with each other, and fight to have the drug withdrawn.

We have tried to contact as many people as possible who have left their details on the Action Line answerphone, but the numbers involved have taken us by surprise. We must now work towards a network where we can talk to each other, offer each other support, and develop the strength of a powerful group that will be capable of making itself heard.

At this stage, the objectives of the group are: –

1. To create a network of people who can talk to each other and share their experiences.

2. To have the drugs withdrawn.

3. To seek the help of members of the medical profession who are sympathetic to our cause.

4. To seek compensation for those who wish to pursue this route.

What do you want to happen next? What do you want to do?

Enclosed is a questionnaire for you to complete, and return as soon as possible, in order that we may go forward as a united group.

I look forward to hearing from you.
