September 30 2004, Vioxx's manufacturer, Merck
Inc, abruptly withdrew the drug, admitting
evidence of a link with heart attacks. But in UK
research led by David Kerr and Michael Langman, volunteer Kenneth Wood
had already been killed by a heart attack, which
his doctor, working with the project, said was
"probably" related to Vioxx. Here's the
