Professor
Michael Langman's statement of reply to Sunday
Times Vioxx inquiries
This
material is from a 2005 investigation by Brian Deer for The Sunday Times of London
into the painkiller Vioxx | Go

A
name which repeatedly cropped up in Brian Deer's
research was Professor Michael Langman,
co-pricipal investigator of a Merck-funded
project called "Victor", investigating
the potential for Vioxx to prevent colon cancer
recurrence, and also a member of the UK
government's Committee on Safety of Medicines. He
declined to be interviewed, and these are his
written responses: the first following a
telephone conversation in which Deer invited him
to be interviewed, the second following the
supply of written points
