On 6
June 1996 - 21 months before the
now-notorious Lancet MMR paper of 28 February
1998, which set out a series of
investigations of children with
developmental disorders, solicitor Richard
Barr and surgeon Andrew
Wakefield, filed the
"proposed protocol" below, and
a document [virtually the same as this], with the UK
government's Legal Aid Board. As the
document shows, it sets out a series of
costed clinical and scientific
tests for a "new syndrome": as
would be reported later in the journal
